‼️ Effective 4PM Today  – Woods are closed ‼️

All woods are closed to Nova Scotians & visitors effective 4PM today until further notice. 

“The risk is very very high right now.” Stated Tim Houston

Effective 4PM Nova Scotians are to stay out of the woods. This includes, woods that are really not necessary for activities such as camping, hiking, fishing or off road vehicles are not permitted in any woods or trail systems through woods are also off limits. 

Camping is allowed but only in official campgrounds, accessing properties through woods are allowed, but not remaining in them. 

Those who live around wooded areas are also advised to stay out of the woods, this adds added risk to you and other residents. 

“For god sakes, be mindful of where you’re butting your butt out.” Houston stated after talking about cigarette usage. 

Houston shared those will be held accountable for causing fires by cigarettes. 

Tinder dry conditions are noted across the province and these steps are precautionary for the safety of all residents with no sign of rain forecasted. 

The penalties are the same for no burning during the province wide burn ban and those who are caught could be subject to a $25,000 fine.
