Two fallen medics from P.E.I.

Local News

On Tuesday, July 7, 2026, two dedicated Island EMS paramedics, Mike MacKenzie and Jenna Croucher, made the ultimate sacrifice when they lost their lives in the line of duty in a tragic motor vehicle collision. Every day, they answered the call to help others, serving their communities with courage, compassion, and unwavering dedication.

To many, they were exceptional paramedics. To us, they were family.

Mike MacKenzie… where do I begin?

Mike was an incredible person, an outstanding paramedic, and someone who represented Island EMS with tremendous pride and professionalism. For the past 11 years, Mike has been part of the Atlantic 911 Ride family.

He loved being involved. Whether it was riding the ambulance with us, taking part in the annual Christmas Parade, or volunteering at our Mock Jail fundraiser at Twin Shores Camping Area in Prince Edward Island, Mike was always there with a smile, ready to help. Just last week, we were talking and making plans together for this year’s upcoming events. None of us could have imagined those conversations would be our last.

Mike wasn’t just a supporter of our ride—he believed in it. It was truly an honour to have you participate with us my friend.

One of Mike’s greatest joys was being a father. He was incredibly proud of his son, Riley, who also works at Island EMS. Riley attended many of our rides and special events alongside his dad, and I know Mike could not have been prouder. I also know Riley will continue to honour his father’s legacy through the same dedication and compassion that Mike showed every day.

Our hearts are with Riley, Mike’s wife, and his entire family during this heartbreaking time.

Jenna Croucher was another remarkable paramedic whose kindness, professionalism, and passion for helping others touched everyone who knew her. She attended several Atlantic 911 Ride events alongside her father after proudly following in his footsteps by becoming a paramedic herself.

I will never forget the first time Jenna attended one of our rides. Her father, the Honourable Robin Croucher, also a dedicated Island EMS paramedic and one of our longest-standing supporters and advocates, could not have been more proud to introduce me to his daughter. The photo we have from that day captures that pride perfectly.

Robin, my friend, my heart breaks for you, your wife, and your entire family. No parent should ever have to endure such an unimaginable loss.

Today, it is our turn to stand beside these families, just as Mike and Jenna stood beside countless others throughout their careers.

In partnership with, and fully endorsed by, Island EMS, the Atlantic 911 Ride has launched this GoFundMe campaign to provide direct financial assistance to both families during this incredibly difficult time.

The Atlantic 911 Ride is dedicated to supporting the families of fallen first responders, assisting children who have been victims of violent crime, and donating public access defibrillators in memory of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. These life-saving defibrillators are placed in communities so that their legacy of helping others continues for generations to come.

Every dollar raised through this campaign will go directly toward helping the families with funeral expenses, immediate financial needs, and the many unexpected challenges they now face.

If you are able to donate, no matter the amount, your generosity will make a meaningful difference. If you are unable to contribute financially, please consider sharing this campaign so together we can reach as many people as possible.

Mike and Jenna dedicated their lives to answering the call when others needed them most.

Now, it’s our turn to answer the call for them.

On behalf of everyone at the Atlantic 911 Ride, thank you for your compassion, your generosity, and for helping us honour the lives, service, and sacrifice of two extraordinary paramedics who will never be forgotten.
