After some discussions with directly affected community members, I have chosen to not share any go fund me pages at this time.
Scam pages have already formed and for credibility’s sake to ensure the money is going where it NEEDS to go, this is the appropriate action.
The best way to help residents impacted by lost or damaged homes until funding comes through, is to e-transfer the West Dalhousie Community Hall.
Volunteers with the community, including those who have been evacuated and lost their homes, have been making meals for evacuees and ensuring everyone is taken care of during this difficult time.
⚠️ Please Note:
This decision was made for numerous reasons.
Partly because the funds received from go fund me pages are not 100% going back to those who need it.
There are funds that are taken away from go fund me pages and not all the donations make it to people who genuinely need them.
Also with consideration from those directly involved this is the best course of action, respecting community members and their privacy.
If you are looking to support, the best way to do so is by sending a donation to the community centre directly.

They are a registered charity, therefore, they are capable of issuing income tax deductible receipts.
