The Southwest Nova Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU) has charged a man with multiple offences after executing a search warrant at a home in West Paradise.
On September 17, as part of an ongoing firearms and stolen property investigation, the Southwest Nova SCEU, in conjunction with Annapolis District RCMP, Emergency Response Team, Police Dog Services, and the Explosives Disposal Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence in the 100 block of Gravel Pit Rd.
Officers safely arrested a man and a woman at the home and searched the property.
During the search, RCMP officers seized imitation firearms, two rifle magazines, a pellet gun, a taser, two motor bikes and a motor bike frame with altered vehicle identification numbers.
Matthew Benjamin Brooks, 38, is facing multiple charges, including:
• Possession of a Prohibited Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
• Possession of a Prohibited Weapon without License
• Possession of a Prohibited Weapon Knowing its Unlawful
• Possession of a Prohibited Weapon while Prohibited
• Careless Storage of a Prohibited Weapon
• Breach of Release Order
• Possession of Stolen Property over $5,000 (two counts)
• Altering VIN on Motor Vehicle (two counts)
Resisting Arrest
Brooks appeared in Digby Provincial Court on September 18. He was released on conditions and is due to reappear on October 6.
The woman was released without charge.
