⚠️ The West Dalhousie / Long Lake Wildfire is now estimated at 8,278 hectares.
Department of Natural Resources unable to provide further information at this time but advising there has been no new reports of damage to homes as assessments are ongoing.
Conditions seem to be favourable to continue to make progress on the classified out of control wildfire. Some showers are in the forecast but nothing notable expected.
Over 1,000 residents have been evacuated currently. Evacuations and road closures still remain in place.
Dozens of volunteer firefighters across Western Nova Scotia are on scene today along side DNR staff to douse a plethora of hot spots
Crews continue to focus on east side of Paradise Lake, along with working around the entire perimeter.
Air resources include: 6 helicopters, 6 planes plus bird dogs. Ground resources include: 36 DNR, 62 Ontario and 59 local firefighters, plus heavy equipment operators.
