Over the past few days many forestry workers and companies have been tasked to the West Dalhousie / Long Lake wildfires.

Crews have worked to provide protection to some key pieces of infrastructure in the community of West Dalhousie.

Forestry has been making fire breaks for communications towers and the West Dalhousie community centre which is the staging area for the Long Lake wildfire complex.

Equipment also capable of hauling water has been utilized for suppression efforts.

Some of the great workers are part of the RC Weare Forestry from Caledonia, Freeman Lumber from Greenfield and Back Country Farm and Forest from Lunenburg.

Like firefighters, these forestry workers have been taking time away from families to aid in this ongoing effort.

We thank the forestry workers for their help in getting control of this blaze that remains burning.

Many areas in the path of the smoke are experiencing reduced visibility today.
