West Dalhousie wildfire remains at 406 hectares and out of control

⚠️ West Dalhousie Wildfires Update Friday:

Long Lake fire in West Dalhousie still out of control. Size still estimated at 406 hectares throughout the day on Friday. Same air resources as yesterday. 33 DNR and 10 local firefighters on scene. Heavy equipment continuing fire barrier work. 

Hoyt Lake is still estimated at 1 hectare, this fire is now being held. 

Mandatory evacuations have also been expanded yesterday evening with the second alert ready message being issued.

“In an interview with the CBC’s Information Morning Nova Scotia on Friday, Dustin Enslow, the deputy warden of the Municipality of the County of Annapolis, said 107 homes have been evacuated, affecting 215 people.” 

⚠️ Note: Also getting word that multiple woods crews are now on scene of the fire with porters and harvesters bringing in water as well as cutting road ways to get in ahead of the fire. 

Firefighters from Brooklyn, Bridgetown & Lawrencetown set up sprinklers on site for structural protection yesterday evening which is in place as a precautionary measure.
