The West Dalhousie / Long Lake wildfire is still estimated at 8468 hectares.
There are no new reports of damage. While crews have wrapped the perimeter of the wildfire with fire breaks – a mix of dozer guards and hose lines – the fire is still out of control.
Firefighters are now advancing from the perimeter inward on the fire. In some areas, they are in 150 to 300 feet.
After a very dry day yesterday, rain is expected in the area today which will help the firefighting effort.
Resources on hand include 40 DNR, 18 Ontario, 40 Quebec and 60 local firefighters, along with 12 helicopters, 4 planes plus bird dog, and about 5 pieces of heavy machinery.
Next update around midday tomorrow.
