It was a beautiful afternoon for family, friends, and community members to take part in a memorial ride from Enfield to Brooklyn.
In July of 2023, flood waters tragically claimed the lives of four people in Brooklyn, resulting in a significant search effort by search and rescue teams and many first responders.
The ride kicked off from the Enfield big stop, with approximately 82 bikes and over 100 people stopping at the Hill Top Hops Brewhouse for a BBQ and 50/50.
Many passenger vehicles and commercial trucks also took part following behind the motorcycle ride.
“I wanted to do a memorial for them and this year. I wanted to give back to the local fire departments and search and rescue that helped us, while remembering Nick, Natalie, Colton and Terri-Lynn”, stated Stewart.
Michelle Stewart, the organizer for the event, along with a friend, Nick Tooke, began the memorial ride last year, after losing her spouse, Nick Holland in the flood. She wanted to thank those who helped and she’s doing it her way.
“Hill Top Hops was actually Nicks favourite place in the whole wide world next to being home. We were always here. These guys are family to us, they’ve been very supportive of everything and that’s why we wanted it to end here,” Michelle shared.
Huge thanks to family and friends who helped organize the 50/50 and BBQ, as well as everyone who supported with donations!
Volunteers raised $2,840.25 from donations and 50/50. Congratulations to Angelica who takes home $645!
In total $2,195.25 was fundraised, going back to local fire departments and search and rescue teams!
It was touching to see bikes and trucks driving through the flood zone and the plethora of people who showed up in support.
