⚠️ There are no major developments from the West Dalhousie / Long Lake Wildfire late this afternoon.
Department of Natural Resources providing a better estimate at 8,247 hectares and classified as out of control.
Reports of damaged homes and properties were reported the other day but no additional reports of new damages.
Evacuations and road closures remain in place on Hwy 10, Morse Road, West Dalhousie Road and surrounding areas.
Dozens of volunteer fire departments continue to battle hot spots in the West Dalhousie community.
Air and additional ground crews continue to focus on the east side of Paradise Lake including also working around the entire perimeter.

Numerous pieces of heavy machinery were also brought in today to assist with the ongoing effort.
“An incident management team and crew of 20 firefighters arrived from Ontario to spell off Nova Scotia staff. They will transition this evening, tomorrow. This is standard practice when wildfires extend over longer periods.” Stated DNR in a statement via X.
Today marks two weeks since the fire broke out, dozens of aircraft, hundreds of volunteers and DNR firefighters, agencies, volunteers, community members and beyond have been actively engaged in getting this fire under control.

The next update on the wildfire is expected sometime tomorrow morning.
