Significant losses for many farmers this year

Community

It’s quite common to see farmers harvesting carrots late into November.

I’ve been told that light frosts can actually make carrots sweeter, making the product rich in quality.

Many farmers are feeling the impact from this year’s severe drought, with significant losses in yields from crops.

Some farmers are seeing 5-10 tons of carrots per acre, compared to previous years where there would be anywheres between 30-40 tons per acre in crops.

These photos were taken the other day just outside of Steam Mill while harvesting a tough crop.
