On November 18, just after 5 a.m., Kings District RCMP responded to a report of a break and enter at a grocery store on Commercial St. in Berwick. Approximately 50 packages of cigarettes were taken from the store.
Two people wearing masks forcefully entered the store through the front door in the early morning and took numerous packages of cigarettes from the shelves. They left the store in a red SUV.
Through the investigation, officers were able to identify the suspects and an address where the stolen cigarettes may be.
At approximately 10:45 p.m., Annapolis and Kings District RCMP, executed a search warrant at a property on Hwy. 201 in Meadowvale. Officers safely arrested two people and recovered stolen cigarettes.
Jason Thomas McPherson, 48, of Meadowvale, has been charged with Break and Enter, Possession of property obtained by crime less than $5000 and Mischief under $5000. He was released on conditions and will appear in Kentville Provincial Court on January 21.
The second person who was arrested has been released without charges pending further investigation.
