Many snow plow operators have not had a break in almost two weeks. We’ve received lots of snow and challenging weather conditions clocking lots of hours on trucks!
It was on a similar evening, 5 years ago today when Berwick Firefighters were alerted to plow truck fully involved on the Oxbow outside Somerset.

Thankfully the driver and lone occupant was able to escape the vehicle safely while later being assessed by EHS Paramedics.
Challenging weather conditions create harder work environments for operators, increasing their risk while on our roads.
Many operators, provincial, municipal and private usually all work alone and in some areas were help isn’t available right away.
This incident 5 years ago today can happen anywhere but it’s a real eye opener to the added risks involved with this occupation.
