Another expansion coming for busy storefront in Cambridge

Community

Cambridge Convenience, located along Highway 1 in Cambridge, will receive a makeover in the coming weeks.

Customers can expect a change in scenery when visiting the store. This particular addition will make for a more comfortable and accessible experience.

Aaron Bennett, owner of Cambridge Convenience, has been in operation for 13 years, and it has become a reliable and essential spot for many community residents.

“We’re going to be redoing the front entry, removing the current deck and wheelchair ramp. There will be a new covered entrance being installed which will make things a little wonky for the next 4-6 weeks.” Stated Bennett.

They will be installing a temporary door during the construction phase. This will require customers to enter and exit through this area while the work takes place.

This will also result in some racking being moved, customers will also need to line up slightly different when checking out through the cash.

On average over 600 customers walk through the doors daily, this new addition will be a game changer for many shoppers.

“Short-term pain for long-term gain.”

When this project is completed the new addition will be very accessible, with no steps or ramps.

At the very front, it will consist of a power sliding door, following another door into the store that you will open, equipped with a wheelchair button for those who require this assistance.

This addition will ultimately eliminate pooling water in the front entrance, wooden steps and the wheelchair ramp, making for a more inviting experience while entering the store.

The inside entrance will also consist of a cart area, which will remove the outdoor cart shed that is currently in place.

The carts will be handy and located when you first enter the sliding doors, making them easy to get to. Cambridge

Convenience also has new carts on order for the expansion. With a new flat-style grocery cart to make it easier to transport larger items.

Quick connect baskets for smaller items will be available, which can be attached to the cart to make for an easier shopping experience.

⚠️ Just for reference: There will be some upgrades to parking as well. This will include more accessibility for those who require handicap parking 🙂

Aaron and his brother, Ryan, are the faces behind the scenes. From bringing in orders, meeting with representatives and helping customers regularly, the two born and raised Waterville residents are becoming an essential component to reliable and accessible shopping for many in our communities.

They’re extremely thankful for the continued support over the past 13 years and are looking forward to having this long overdue project completed, making shopping much easier.

It’s exciting to see local residents, and local businesses continue to expand and be successful.

This interesting location allows for the ability to get a variety of products in such a small place conveniently.

Looking forward to seeing this project completed!
