On Monday afternoon, July 13th, shortly before 4PM, Middleton Firefighters were dispatched to a commercial structure fire along Main Street in Middleton.
Firefighters arrived on scene to a working fire within a 16-unit apartment building.
Mutual aid assistance was called, bringing in support from Nictaux, Lawrencetown, Kingston & Aylesford fire departments.
Middleton Deputy Fire Chief, Jody Spidle was able to confirm by phone, that firefighters were able to quickly get the fire under control.
It was determined that the fire had started in an apartment and spread very little into the attic. Thankfully, firefighters were able to catch it before the fire spread further into the building.
Annapolis District RCMP, Nova Scotia Power & EHS Paramedics all assisted on scene. There were no reported injuries as a result of the fire.
Berwick firefighters also provided standby coverage at the Middleton fire hall during the incident.
Main Street in Middleton was shut down for sometime while firefighters hooked into nearby hydrants blocking traffic.
Unfortunately as a result, all residents were displaced that night following the fire. All residents were safely evacuated, pets were safely rescued but one cat remains unaccounted for.
The Nova Scotia Office of the Fire Marshal was also contacted. Deputy Chief Spidle, confirmed the fire is being treated as accidental.
Great work by all crews to quickly get this fire under control.
