Fire conditions became explosive this afternoon while fire crews were fighting a wildfire in a remote area in Lake George, Kings County.
The fire was reported yesterday evening where crews made quick work locating the fire and having support via air assets to hit the fire.

DNR Crews, Aylesford & Berwick fire departments returned this morning, shuttling water and fighting the fire by ground for most of the morning and afternoon.
The fire was classified as “Being Held” by DNR officials in a report on X this morning.
With extreme wind conditions, the fire gained intensity, forcing crews to evacuate the active fire zone, the fire grew in size, reverting its classification to “Out of control.”
In just a short time period the fire burned fast and jumped the Aylesford Road between the Fox Mountain Campground and North River road late this afternoon.

Brooklyn Fire Department was called in with their (SPU) structural protection unit, which holds dozens of sprinklers for wildfire protection.
The fire was estimated at 80 hectares earlier this evening but has since grown significantly.
NWT 802 water bombers, helicopters and two 415 water bombers from Quebec all worked the fire this evening.
The wildfire in Lake George continues to burn out of control with smoke impacting many areas. Mandatory evacuations are in place for Lake George and Aylesford Lake areas.

There has been a total of (4) emergency alerts that have been issued since 5PM this evening for evacuation notices.
Many residents can see a large orange glow in the sky from the fire within their communities.
There is no reports of damaged structures at this time, but dozens of homes and cabins are in close proximity to the wildfire that’s burning out of control.
