Kentville Multicultural Festival returns August 24th

The Kentville Multicultural Festival returns on Sunday, August 24th with a full day of music, food, and family-friendly cultural experiences in Kentville’s Centre Square.

Running from 11 AM to 4 PM, the festival is free to attend and welcomes everyone to celebrate the diversity that makes our region vibrant and unique.

This year’s Main Stage headliner is Aquakultre (1–2 PM). The artistic voice of Halifax-based musician Lance Sampson, Aquakultre blends soul, hip-hop, and storytelling rooted in his experience as a Black Nova Scotian.

Other highlights include Celtic musician Andy Webster, festival favourites Drummers from Home, and a lively Cuban Dance Party led by Frederic Mujica.

The celebration doesn’t stop at 4 PM—festival-goers can head down the street to Paddy’s Pub for an afterhours performance by The Space Paddy Bog People.

Beyond the stage, the festival offers plenty of ways to participate. The Active Living Tent features Latin Dance and Tai Chi sessions, while the Experience Tent invites attendees to try Chinese papercutting, henna, and Indigenous crafts. Kids can enjoy crafts, storytelling, bubble-making, and face painting in the Children’s Tent.

Festival-goers can also explore an international vendor market, with 12 food vendors and more than 30 artisan and cultural vendors representing communities from across the province.

Planning committee member Mei Soo Bee shares:“The takeaway of the festival is to recognize the richness of cultural diversity in our region and the need for inclusion in this place we call home.”

The Kentville Multicultural Festival is organized by the Kings Multicultural Festival Society, hosted by Downtown Kentville, and supported by the Town of Kentville, Kentville Rotary Club, Nova Scotia’s Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism & Heritage, and other valued partners.
