Early this morning, sometime after 1AM, Lawrencetown Firefighters were dispatched to a commercial fire alarm sounding in Clarence East.
On arrival, flames were visible from a commercial building on the property upgrading the call to a working commercial structure fire.
Automatic mutual aid protocols were activated, bringing in assistance from Bridgetown and Middleton fire departments to the scene.
Firefighters were faced with heavy fire load inside of a building at the Valley Waste-Resource Management site.
Due to the nature of the incident, additional mutual aid assistance was called bringing it departments from Nictaux, Annapolis Royal, Port Lorne, Kingston & Aylesford fire departments.
Annapolis District RCMP, Emergency Health Services & Nova Scotia Power also responded.
There were no reported injuries as a result of the incident.
Valley Waste-Resource Management shared earlier today that their Elliott Road location is closed until further notice.
Customers will need to go to Kentville for service while this unknown timeline for closure occurs. Curb-side collection is occurring but they expect extended collection times.
Firefighters worked to bring out debris from the structure soaking down hotspots until the early morning on Thursday.
