On May 28th, two unprecedented wildfires erupted in Nova Scotia and my paths crossed with the fire in Halifax County.

Thousands of residents were forced to flee as a wall of fire tore through the core of Hammonds Plains.

I managed to help two occupants from their burning vehicle and get them to safety.
I still to this day cannot fully comprehend what I got myself wrapped up in, but it’s surely a miracle to think everyone escaped and there were no serious injuries as a result.
Cars were on fire, houses were on fire, people were racing to the leave the area and in some places four lanes of outbound traffic were neck and neck.
Today for many, and for years to come is a grave reminder of how thankful we are for all our first responders, how dangerous wildfires can be and that coming together as a community is what keeps us strong.
Thinking of everyone today, who lives these moments like it was yesterday.
Below are photos of the chaos taken from my camera lense on May 28th, 2023.
