I’ve been receiving many messages from people wanting to know how to support evacuees. I haven’t been able to reply to many due to personal matters.
Currently sending a donation to the community centre is the best way for you to help them right now, the funds are being used to help with accommodations and other expenses.
Many will not be able to return to their homes or it’s unknown when they can return, most of the residents in the West Dalhousie area were unable to have insurance.
Donations are still being distributed by the Salvation Army but the provincial government funding takes time to show up, making this even more difficult at this pressing time.
If you are looking to support, the best way to do so is by sending a donation to the community centre directly.

They are a registered charity, therefore, they are capable of issuing income tax deductible receipts.
⚠️ Please Note: If you are looked to support a volunteer fire department, I would suggest reaching out to them separately.
