Swift-water training

Local News

Across the province, volunteer firefighters regularly take part in training sessions, even outside of their weekly scheduled times.

More training, means more time away from their families but it ensures that our first responders are committed to serving our communities when and if an emergency strikes.

Last weekend the Brooklyn Fire Department & Canadian Mountain Rescue Team Atlantic, were working to complete a swift-water rescue course.

The training requires members to participate in 7 full days, with one day of in classroom theory, swim testing in a pool, practical scenarios in swift-water and a number of other techniques, including a final assessment and written test next week.

Crews will be back in the water this weekend working to complete the program!
