⚠️ West Dalhousie / Long Lake Wildfire Update:
Department of Natural Resources advising that the Long Lake wildfire still remains out of control at this hour.
The size remains estimated at 807 hectares which has since doubled from yesterday.
Aircraft dropping water this afternoon include 1 contracted helicopter and four 802 fixed wing skimmers from NWT. Ground crews are 44 DNR, 5 fire crew from PEI DNR.
Additionally there are fire departments from Bridgetown, Lawrencetown, Annapolis Royal, Nictaux, Middleton, Bear River, Springfield, Kingston, New Germany, Northfield, Brooklyn & Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency on scene this afternoon.
Winds are shifting on site and fire conditions are ramping up. Additional fire apparatus has been requested for structural protection as the fire threatens the community.
Numerous sprinklers have been placed near the West Dalhousie Community Hall in addition to residential homes.
Numerous pieces of heavy machinery remain on site alongside, EHS Paramedics, Public Safety Field Communications, Department of Public Works, Conservation and other agencies.
DNR also advising Hoyt Lake Wildfire (estimated 0.1 hectare) is now under control. 3 DNR firefighters remain on Hoyt working to extinguish.
