West Dalhousie Wildfire Update

The West Dalhousie / Long Lake wildfire remains out of control and is still estimated at 8,468 hectares.

There have been no new reports of damage to any structures since the previous updates of twenty homes and 11 outbuildings lost. 

Some evacuees have been able to return to their homes while many have not returned or have been able to survey the damage to their properties. 

Reports from DNR that crews have made good progress with dozer guards and laying hose lines, along with successful water drops by aircraft yesterday.

Resources today include 10 helicopters, 4 planes and a bird dog in action. 

Firefighters on site: 4 DNR, 60 Ontario, 40 Quebec, 60 local, along with about 30 pieces of heavy machinery. 

The next update is expected around midday tomorrow.
