Smoke impacting residents in Annapolis Valley

Local News

Smoke from the Lake George Wildfire was drifting onto the valley floor this morning as pictured between the Berwick & Aylesford exits on Hwy 101.

Residents can expect to smell smoke in their communities and see smoke as the fire continues to burn out of control.

The wind has shifted numerous times in the last 24 hours.

The NWT 802 water bombers are wheels up and enroute to the fire this morning along with many ground crews and heavy machinery.

Waterville Big flow has heen requested for water supply as firefighters continue to supply sprinklers and wet vegetation with tankers.

On scene reports indicate very smoke conditions this morning.

Winds are expected to increase which raises some concerns for fire efforts through the day today.

As of the last official update the fire remains at an estimated 150 hectares in size.

Evacuations and road closures remain in place.
