Over the weekend, the Kentville Volunteer Fire Department gathered to honour members who have completed 35 years of dedication fire service.
Hugh Stronach, 35 years completed,
Carl Knox, 55 years completed,
Clem Fairclough, 65 years completed,
Each member was awarded a plaque from the department and certificates from dignitaries, during a special celebration with friends, family and community members.
Combined, Hugh, Carl, and Clem have served a total of 155 years of fire service to the Kentville Volunteer Fire Department.
Each of them has played a vital role, climbing the ranks and proudly serving the communities in which they protected over decades.
These distinguished members were the first to be recognized under a new program that will honour and celebrate Kentville firefighters who reach or have reached 35 years of fire service.
All of the members recognized over the weekend are firefighters who have retired from the KVFD within the past year.
Kentville plans to continue this tradition with future members while also reviewing its records to recognize all past members who have reached this significant milestone.
