The Greenwich Fire Department hosted their fire prevention open house for the public today!
There was lots to check out, from Valley Search and Rescue equipment, Department of Natural Resources wildfire truck, Valley Waste Displays, MADD Canada representatives, activities for children and even a free BBQ!
Some highlights included education around properly disposing of batteries, in many cases lithium-ion batteries have been the result of devastating fires which could have all been preventable.
Remember, Don’t Drink & Drive, always operate a motor vehicle sober, call a cab so you can arrive alive!
Each year during October fire stations across Nova Scotia host fire prevention open houses, providing an opportunity for the public to learn about fire safety, check out fire equipment along with tools used by other organizations.
This month, if you see a station near you hosting an open house event, take advantage of the opportunity and bring the family to learn what you can do to be fire smart!
Fire prevention runs from October 4th-10th, with this years them being “Charge Into Fire Safety”, focused on reducing the risk of fires caused by rechargeable lithium-ion batteries.
