Yesterday evening, shortly after 7PM, Waterville & District Volunteer Firefighters responded to a report of a field on fire in Somerset
.On arrival, it was determined that a brush pile was smouldering fairly deep, following a previous burn and ended up reigniting following high winds. The fire had ultimately spread into an adjacent corn field.

Crews worked to ensure the perimeter of the fire was contained and worked to extinguish the large brush pile.
With guidance from Department of Natural Resources, a tractor was brought in to rip the brush pile apart and fully extinguish the fire.

Firefighters were on scene for some time to ensure the fire was fully out before leaving.
