The Fire Service in Nova Scotia is like no other, comprised of volunteers in our community who work to protect property and save lives each day.
Our fire departments are the backbones to our communities, being there to support those in a time of need, providing shelter, education and a friendly face.
While many think being a firefighter involves running into burning buildings, this is not always the case.
There is a job for everyone, whether that involves being in an administrative role, providing scene support, medical first response, driver/operator or being an interior or exterior firefighter. The list doesn’t end and there is a job for you.
Being apart of your local fire department provides you with free training, multiple skill sets and life experiences, that follow you through your day to day routines.
There is a lot to learn but the best part about being in the fire service is the reward of knowing you’re helping someone when that training comes.
Our fire departments rely on volunteers, most of which have full time jobs, restricting response numbers at times.
There is a set bunker gear, helmet and pager, all you have to do is reach out to your local fire department and apply!
If you are interested in learning more or thinking of getting involved, reach out, most if not all fire departments are recruiting.
