Garage Fire in Dempseys Corner

Local News

Yesterday afternoon, shortly before 1PM, Aylesford Firefighters were dispatched to a report of a garage on fire in Dempseys Corner.

Prior to arriving, heavy black smoke was visible from a number of areas, indicating a well working fire.

Automatic mutual aid was dispatched from Berwick & Kingston Fire Departments to the scene.

On arrival, crews were faced with fire inside of a metal dome structure, where contents inside were burning.

Firefighters made quick efforts to extinguish the fire and check for further extension. Thankfully with the make of the building, crews were able to easily contain the blaze.

Temperatures were very warm, exceeding 30 degrees by the time of the call. One individual on site was assessed by EHS Paramedics, no further injuries reported.

Aylesford Fire Chief, Shawn Carey, was able to confirm by phone, that the cause of the fire had been determined to be accidental in nature, due to a lawnmower inside the building.

Great work by all crews on site.
