The Apple Blossom Festival Fireworks kicked off yesterday evening in Memorial Park with the experienced crew from FX Fireworks in Kentville!
Unfortunately, part way through the show, due to a malfunction with one of the fireworks, an incident did occur where a low break firework struck one of the technicians.
While having the relationship with the crew, I was in close proximity and immediately called 911, ensuring first responders came and treated the technician on site.
These incidents can happen, while not often, it is a part of the risk.
One tech was transported to hospital by EHS paramedics. After speaking with the crew from FX today, the technician who suffered injuries is home and doing well and is expected to make a full recovery.
These incidents can happen and it’s all part of the industry!
With teamwork, the firework technicians were able to quickly continue the show while others ensured the tech was getting the care needed.
This is a prime example of why these technicians have specialized certifications to perform these shows due to the risks involved.
It’s another prime example of why there are restricted barricades set up for the public, to ensure the safety of those who are there to watch.
There can be malfunctions with equipment before and after shows resulting in fireworks not firing, making these areas a hot zone and extremely dangerous for the public.
I’ve seen many concerned commenters from many individuals following the fireworks last evening.
I’m sharing this update with permission from FX Fireworks.
Thank you to those who have reached out concerned and are being respectful.
