Lake George Wildfire – Phased Re-Entry Update (October 9)
All residents evacuated because of the Lake George wildfire in Kings County will be able to return home Thursday, October 9.
Re-entry will be done in phases with designated checkpoints:
🕙 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
➡ All civics on North River Road and Aylesford Lake
✅ Checkpoint: North River Road before Old Mill Lane
➡ Residents of 5789–6128 Aylesford Road
✅ Checkpoint: Fox Mountain Campground
🕛 12 p.m. – 2 p.m.
➡ All civics on Lake George and 3847–4955 Aylesford Road
✅ Checkpoint: North River Road before Old Mill Lane
Residents are reminded to:
🪪 Bring ID to verify your address at the checkpoint
🚗 Drive with caution – fire crews may still be working in the area
🌫 Monitor air quality and limit smoke exposure if sensitive
🔥 Stay prepared to evacuate again if fire behaviour changes
🚧 Barricades will remain in place – re-entry is for residents only. Please have identification showing your civic address ready at the checkpoint.
⚠️ A state of local emergency remains in place in the county.
⚠️ The active wildfire zone also remains barricaded and only staff responding to the wildfire are permitted in this area. This includes Aylesford Road between G2 Road and 5789 Aylesford Rd.
