Ditching and tunnel work for new interchange

Community

The development for the new access road in the community of Cambridge between Brooklyn Street and Highway 1 is something I’ve been trying to keep up to date on, with it being so close to home.

When this is officially completed, it will be a great improvement to the rapidly growing population and infrastructure in our community.

With its intention to reduce heavy truck traffic along a busy rural highway, creating a safe point of entry for the fire department and other agencies to provide emergency service on Highway 101 and also giving the local First Nation community two points of access.

The most recent work continues with the installation of a tunnel which will allow those who enjoy the trail to still do so, accommodating the winter groomer, snowmobiles, ATVs, cyclists and everyday walkers.

Currently, work is well underway for this section along with additional ditching and the installation of more concrete tunnel sections.

There is a lot to be done but it’s interesting to see the small puzzle pieces slowly coming together.
