Last Saturday, April 12th, beef exhibitors from across the maritimes gathered for the first annual Apple Capital Steer and Heifer Show and Sale held at the Kings Mutual Century Centre in Berwick.
With 20 heifers competing in a jackpot-style show, to be titled as the Grand Champion female of the show.
Additionally, there were also 6 steers competing for the title of Grand Champion steer.
Following the show, a prime rib supper was prepared by the Berwick & District Lions Club, helping with fundraising for the event.
Steers were auctioned off and sold to local companies supporting the beef industry in our community.
Planning for next year’s event is already underway, and organizers are looking for more local exhibitors to enter steers into the show and sale, however the event is open to everyone. It is a great opportunity to showcase your farm, and support the local beef industry.
Sponsors are a huge factor in operating such event, and the committee would like to thank them for their generous support.
The committee is looking forward to the second year of the event!
Feel free to reach out to the Apple Capital Steer and Heifer Show and Sale Facebook page with any questions.
This was my first time covering a cattle show, certainly an interesting experience which brings in local beef producers from across the maritimes!
Special thanks to Grace for helping with compile information for this write up.
