Southwest Nova District RCMP Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU) has arrested two people for drug trafficking and weapons offences in New Minas.
On January 18, Southwest Nova SCEU, assisted by Kings District RCMP general duty officers and the General Investigation Section, executed a search warrant at a home on Kings Cres. At the residence, officers safely arrested a man and a woman.
During the search, investigators seized drugs, consisting of presumed fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine and crack cocaine, pills (hydromorphone and Percocet), and gabapentin, as well as a quantity of cash and ammunition for a firearm.
Michael Nicholson, 41, of New Minas, has been charged with:
• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (five counts);
• Possession of Ammunition while Prohibited;
• Possession of Prohibited Device;
• Possession of Prohibited Weapon.
He had a first court appearance on January 19 at Kentville Provincial Court and was released by the courts on conditions pending future court appearances.
Tali Reid, 31, of Wolfville, is charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (five counts). She was released by police on conditions pending a first court appearance on March 24 at Kentville Provincial Court.
The investigation is ongoing.
