It was very fascinating to watch this process, witnessing ants coming in waves from underneath the ground, pulling out dirt to form their home.
These sand hills pictured are created by ants digging underground to make their nests.
They excavate tunnels and chambers, bringing out sand and debris from underground to form the mound outside the entrance.
These mounds serve multiple purposes, like entrances to the nest, regulating temperature and humidity for the colony and protecting the colony from potential predators.
