What are they doing with the dirt?

Over the last week, many residents have asked what they are doing with the dirt along Highway 1 behind the Waterville Fire Station.

There is an abundance of extra material as a result of the ongoing work for the new Cambridge interchange.

This material will hauled out to local Nova Scotia Department of Public Works bases to be used for winter operations!

While the landmark won’t be sticking around for long, my good friend Ian has already named the hill of dirt “Mount Cambridge.”

⚠️ Just for clarification, there is a large pile of dirt in particular being referenced.
It is currently situated right next to highway 1 and directly behind the fire hall, taller than it should be, this is what’s being hauled away to local bases.
They are hauling dirt in the area to shape the road and landscape, to make way for a round about while also accommodating the ATV trail.
Eventually a tunnel will run underneath the roadway allowing users safe travel and not disrupting its current route.

To be continued….
